You guys it’s October!!!!!
Is anyone else as excited as I am about that fact? It’s not just the fact that it’s Halloween month that had me so excited. It’s more so the fact that it is finally starting to feel like Fall around here in Colorado.
If there’s one thing ya’ll should know about me is that I’m not a fan of the heat and I absolutely LOVE cold weather and Fall.
Actually love would be an understatement.
I am obsessed with Fall. Unfortunately for me, the last several years I have waited and waited for Fall to arrive and instead Colorado has been getting robbed of the cold crisp air and greeted with the same warm weather I’ve been waiting to go away for months already.
However, this year things seem to be different.
Finally, the warm seems to be saying goodbye and the beautifully nippy temperatures are moving in!!
Guys, I can’t tell you how much I’m excited about this!!!
So, along with Fall officially arriving it also happens to be the first day of October.
There’s no better way to celebrate the glorious kick off of October than with a couple Halloween Decor DIYs!
Personally, I find it a bit difficult to decorate for Halloween as I’ve gotten older.
I’ve always looked forward to decorating for Halloween. However, as the years pass the fake blood and styrofoam graveyards just don’t quite do it for me anymore.
So with a little bit of brainstorming, I came up with a couple Halloween Inspired DIYs.
Hopefully, this DIY Dollar Store Decor will help you with your Halloween Home Decor brain farts.
You can get all the free vintage skull printables below to make your very own Halloween Gallery Wall!
I’m going to show you how I made these super easy DIY Dollar Store Halloween Decor Insect Taxidermy displays.
There are only a few things you’ll need for these wall displays. The steps to making them are super simple too!
you’ll need a few (or as many displays you want to make) round mirrors from The Dollar Tree for the insects to be mounted to.
A range of insects you’d like to mount. These are also found at The Dollar Tree in the kids’ toy section. Gold metallic paint from Hobby Lobby or your choice of craft store. Black matte paint this is the one I got, and finally a hot glue gun and glue sticks
Basically, you’re going to paint the insects gold I used DecoArt Metallic Acrylic Paint in Glorious Gold. Then I painted the mirrors black, and hot glue the insects to the middle of the painted mirrors and viola.
I highly recommend painting the mirrors first because they take a while to dry and you’ll likely have to put on a second coat like I did.
