Giving holiday gifts I know my friends and family will love is one of my favorite parts of the holidays.

Knowing you’ve given someone something they actually wanted and will use is the best feeling. This is not an easy accomplishment, however.

Every year I spend weeks trying to figure out what that gift is and often get overwhelmed by this task.

I know most of us share this same struggle. So I’ve put together a list of gift ideas for the DIYer in your life, all in a range of price points.

The items in this gift guide will work for any hardcore DIYer, occasional handyman, weekend crafter or any other skill level.

Holiday Gifts Under $20

Drill Bit Set

It doesn’t matter if you’re an avid project seeker or an occasional household handyman/handywoman, everyone could use a set of drill bits in various sizes. I have more than a few sets myself. I like this Ryobi 31 piece set.

Level

Like drill bits levels are is a must-have in a household toolbox. I can say with confidence that pretty much everyone has used a level at least once in their life. Heck, I’d bet a lot of us have used one in the last few months! Levels can range in sizes but they are all fairly affordable. Here is a set of 3 in different sizes that would make a great stocking stuffer.

Tape Measure

I’m just going to say that pretty much every gift idea on this under $20 list is pretty much a staple. Tape measures are used for everything and I mean everything. Though someone might already have one it never hurts to have a backup. There’s been plenty of times my workspace was in shambles and couldn’t find my tape measure for the life of me. They don’t need to be fancy, here’s a set of 4 in 12′ 16′ 25′ 33′.

Organizer for Small Parts

Speaking of a messy workspace an organizer to hold all of your nails, screws, and drill bits is a must-have. I’m guilty of using plastic cups during my projects and it never fails every time that I at some point knock the cup over and spill everything all over the place. Or I put a few bolts in some random place and a day later can’t remember where the heck it is. For under $20 these guys hold a surprising amount of stuff.

Speed Square

Speed squares are a really handy little tool. I used mine when I was building the rafters for Olivers Piggy Palace. Because they find a range of angles for you and have a built-in measuring stick they can be helpful for all kinds of projects not just if you’re building a shed like me. Here’s the one that I have.

Holiday Gifts Under $50

Kreg Pocket Hole Jig

I finally pulled the trigger and bought myself this little guy. For the longest time I would come across a DIY project I wanted to do and I’d realize it required making pocket holes. I’d try to find workarounds so that I didn’t have to buy the Kreg Jig but to be honest either they didn’t work or it was more work than necessary. There are a lot of DIYs that require pocket holes, pretty much any piece of furniture has them and this mini kit is a great option if the larger version isn’t quite in the budget.

Stackable And Portable Tool Box

A large toolbox is a DIYer or handyman’s/handywoman’s best friend. I’m the worst about leaving my tools strewn about. I’ll tell you there’s nothing worse than working on a project and having to look in 5 different places to find what you’re looking for. When I was building Oliver’s house I didn’t have one of these yet and every day I had to haul multiple bags of my tools in and out of the house. I’m telling you it was such a pain! This one is nice because it also has wheels and a handle so it’s easy to roll around but it’s affordable compared to a lot of the toolboxes out there.

Clamps

I use clamps for almost every single project. Wood clamps are one of those items you might not necessarily think about adding to your shopping cart while at the hardware store. But while in the middle of the project you realize would make your life that much easier if you had it. Many woodworking projects require the assistance of clamps.

Ryobi Battery and Charger Kit

I’ve mentioned before how much I love Ryobi tools. They are perfect tools for the beginner or frequent DIYers. They are very affordable and work very well. My favorite part is that you can get them cordless. I’m all about cordless tools. Almost every tool I have with the exception of my miter saw is cordless. Because of this I also eat through the two 1AH batteries that came with my kit very fast and had to buy 2 more even larger batteries to keep up. This Ryobi Battery and charging station is a great affordable addition to a cordless tool set collection. It even comes with its own protective portable case.

Kreg Jig K4

We talked about the mini Kreg Jig kit but the larger one is great and gives you more capabilities for the frequent woodworker. It comes with more accessories including a handy clamp designed specifically for pocket holes.

Power Sander

My Ryobi sander was one of my first ever power tools I ever bought. They are surprisingly affordable considering how often they are used in DIY projects. Trust me if all you’ve done is manually sand wood up until this point gifting someone with a sander will be a game-changer.

Staple Gun

The staple gun was also one of the first power tools I ever bought myself. Actually, I think it was the very first tool, very closely followed by the power sander. I use my staple gun for upholstery projects to simple home decor crafts. This Dewalt 5-in-1 is a nice option and affordable!

Ryobi Drill and Circular Saw Kit

Probably my two most used tools to this day are my circular saw and drill. No DIYer can go without these two tools, this is a great kit for the newbie DIYer who needs to get their foot in the door. Both are cordless and the kit comes with a 2.0Ah battery and charging station.

Router

This tool has most recently been added to my wish list. Routers have so many capabilities like rounding edges, beveling, creating inlays and many other possibilities. There’s been a lot of woodworking projects in the past that looked so fun and intricate I’d ben dying to try but can’t because I didn’t have this little guy. For all the possibilities it seems like a steal, I might just have to splurge and get it for myself this year. While I don’t have one myself I still like this Dewalt Router, you can’t go wrong with any tool when going Dewalt.

Circular Saw

I got my circular saw in my Ryobi kit but for those of you who would rather just have the saw this one is a great option. It’s cordless and just as powerful. A saw is a must-have in any DIYers list of tools and table saws, or miter saws can be very expensive. That’s what makes circular saws a great option they are portable, far more affordable and can substitute a table saw or miter saw if need be.

I hope this holiday gift guide was helpful for you guys. Cleaning the house to host family, cooking, and decorating all make the Holiday season a bit stressful.

Worrying about what to get friends and family for the Holidays don’t need to be another thing to add to the list.
